What a world is

One painting. Inside it, four to six things are doors: zoom into one and it becomes a new painting, with its own doors, down and down. Some roads end in a scene worth the whole journey; some end in a tiny picture that is the first picture again, and you are home. Unmarked doors are hidden for whoever looks closest. Somewhere, a figure holds a card with a line written for you.

How it is made

A director reads your words (or looks at your photo) and decides what the world is about, who comes back deeper down, what is written on the folded letter, who speaks at the end. It draws the map, then writes every scene. A painter paints them, each one as its door seen close. Every picture is checked: a door that cannot be found or sits where it would break the zoom is painted again. Then the world is stitched so that from the first picture you can already see, as a dot, the deepest room.

The three first pictures

The first picture matters most, so you choose it. We paint three; you pick the one your world grows from. If none is right, say so: two more rounds of three are included. After you choose, the rest of the world is painted on that picture and nothing in it moves.

A world from a photo

Send a photo of a place, a day, a table of people. The first picture is that photo painted in a style that suits it, with everything where it was. The things in it become the doors; the people in it come back deeper down, older or younger, where they were going. Only send photos that are yours.

Where it lives

Your world is a page with a link. It works on a phone, a laptop, a television browser, a wall screen. Share the link with whoever it is for. It does not expire. Later you can grow it: a new scene a day, a new scene a week, or one at a time.

What we will not paint

Real people other than those in your own photo; brands; characters from films and games; anything we would not want our own names on. If an order cannot be painted, it is refunded without discussion.
